System files and folders should not be given permissions to all user accounts. Permissions granted to any single user are risky. When you want to change a whole user’s permissions rather than granting permissions to a folder, you should log in to the Ubuntu desktop as the user with administrative privileges. By using the sudo command line option in the command line, you can gain access to your root privileges. Using the chmod command, you can grant all users file and folder permissions. Users with other user accounts are unable to view the files of users with other user accounts. It is the responsibility of each user account to read and write to their own files. This can be done by using the “su” command. Another way is to log in as the root user.
